What is the Bold & Bright Event?
The Bold & Bright Fundraiser is intended to raise funds for The Study’s Scholarship and Bursary Program. We recognize that outstanding young minds deserve the opportunity to excel, despite their families’ financial circumstances. Currently, 20% of students receive some form of financial assistance, yet the need continues to expand as The Study’s student population continues to grow.
How does supporting The Study’s Scholarship and Bursary Program impact my daughter?
The Study’s cultural and socio-economic diversity amongst its students is a fundamental element of the school’s identity. It remains our belief that if we want young women to grow, and to be effective in our world, they need to know the world. The experience of learning in a diverse environment strengthens your daughter’s natural curiosity, and when nourished, leads to creative thinking, problem solving and personal development. By supporting the Scholarship and Bursary program, you help the school attract a diverse and mission-appropriate group of students, offering your daughter new opportunities and experiences every day.
How can I purchase my tickets?
You may purchase your tickets (and sponsorships) online by going to The Study’s website or by going directly to the event website at: www.thestudyboldandbright.ca.
Auction items will be available to view in early October.
What does the evening look like?
This event will take place at trendy New City Gas in Montreal’s Griffintown, and feature live art performer David Garibaldi who will prepare three (3) large-scale pieces of art, and DJ JoJo Flores and Master of Ceremonies Andy Nulman, co-founder of the Just for Laughs comedy festival. There will also be a LIVE and a SILENT AUCTION using mobile bidding software (see below), with Hal Hannaford, Headmaster, Selwyn House, as the evening’s auctioneer. Complimentary catered hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and beverages will be served.

Who may attend?
Everyone in The Study community (18 yrs +) is invited to join us that evening. Bring your friends, your parents and your guests! The more the merrier!
How will the school use the funds raised at the event?
100% of the net revenues generated by this event will be directed to the school’s Scholarship and Bursary Program.
Will the David Garibaldi art pieces be auctioned off?
Yes - participants will have the opportunity to acquire one of these unique art pieces!
How much are tickets? Is my ticket eligible for a Charitable Tax Receipt?
Tickets will cost $350 per person and a portion of the ticket cost will be eligible for a charitable tax receipt. The tax receipts will be issued in the weeks following the event.
Does my event ticket count towards my participation in Annual Giving?
We do not count fundraising event participation as your Annual Giving. Even though there is a charitable receipt component to your event ticket, the goal of this unique event is to fundraise beyond that which is raised in Annual Giving. We thank everyone for continuing to participate in Annual Giving.
Are there early-bird discounts?
No, unfortunately there will not be any early-bird discounts.
Are there discount ticket prices for Study staff?
Yes, faculty and staff tickets are offered a discounted price of $125. Tax receipts will not be issued at this ticketed price. This discount is also available for any retired faculty and staff.
Are there discount ticket prices for Study Old Girls?
Yes, young Study Old Girls whose graduating years fall between 2000 and 2017 are offered discounted price of $125. Tax receipts will not be issued at this ticket price.
Are there volunteer opportunities?
Yes – there will be a limited number of volunteer opportunities available. There will be a ‘call out’ for volunteers later in September. Those who wish to volunteer may submit their names and volunteers will be assigned their tasks on a first come, first served basis. Volunteers will have their meal covered at the event.
Are there sponsorship opportunities?
Yes, there is a variety of sponsorship opportunities, at all price points.
What is Mobile Bidding?
Mobile bidding is a way to utilise your smartphone/device to bid on auction items in a convenient way. You may bid at the event, and, through remote mobile bidding, those who cannot join us that evening can still join in on the auction fun!
We will be using a software platform to make the entire process as convenient as possible for our guests: from buying your ticket, checking in at the event, registering as a bidder, making your bids, following the status of your bid, paying off your auction account and checking out at the end of the event.
What if I don’t have a phone or iPad that will allow me to participate in your auction?
Not a problem! We will have a team of well-trained volunteers at the event who will be equipped with devices and through whom you can participate in a fun and engaged way!
If I buy an auction item, can I receive a Charitable Tax Receipt?
It depends. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has specific guidelines addressing this topic.
